About The Riddle: A Brief History

The Riddle of Doom was created in February 2005, by andrew. The riddle had 16 levels at the time, and was very largely based on the riddle NotPron by David Munich, on which he (Andrew) had gotten very far. After opening up the riddle to his classmates, dellsystem became interested in it and offered to help expand the riddle. The offer was accepted, a password based on one of dellsystem's video riddles was decided upon, and many discussions concerning future riddles and how to organize the site took place.

Time went on, the riddle grew in size, the website underwent changes (and eventually, server moves, from freewebs to byethost), the number of riddles expanded. By March 2005, the forum was created, using a free phpBB hosting service as dellsystem was too stupid to manually setup a forum. Riddlers that neither andrew nor dellsystem had heard of before had signed up at the forum, and new riddlers were joining every day. The forum was at its prime, with frequent discussions non-related to the riddle taking place and bandwidth.

Eventually, of course, interest dwindled. A few people had finished the riddle (some by cheating, which means they don't really count) and the majority of the forum's members had, by the beginning of 2006, pretty much stopped posting. Still, andrew still contributed levels on an infrequent basis, and dellsystem took over the running of the site, and by October 2007 had implemented many changes into the website and riddle. A brief period of interest ensued in summer 2007 after a posting of the riddle on the website Nordinho.net, but it was over once the riddlers there had completed the 40-odd levels of the riddle.

The Level Discussion forum has, or will soon have, a topic for every level. As of Thanksgiving (CAN) weekend 2007, there are still quite a few things left to do before the riddle should actually be opened and promoted once more. Check back soon; for bios, check the soon-to-be made bios page; for contact information, just click contact.

As of November 2, 2007, the riddle has 58 levels. They are quite simple - once, of course, you've figured out what you're supposed to do.
